Proper hand washing prevents the spread of disease

She is doing an excellent job using plenty of soap, working the lather well, and using warm water.

It’s easy for germs on your hands to end up in your mouth. Washing your hands is the most effective thing you can do to stop germs from spreading. Wash your hands before eating or touching food, after using the bathroom, blowing your nose or coughing, touching animals, playing outside, and before and after visiting sick people.

Now that you know why and when, here is the “how.” Always use warm water and soap. Work up a lather on BOTH SIDES of your hands, wrists, between the fingers, and around the fingernails. Continue to work the lather in for 10 to 15 seconds. Rinse thoroughly, again with warm water, and dry with a clean towel.

It may seem silly that we devote our first blog post to something so basic. But proper hygiene is simple and too many time we either forget or take shortcuts. We’ll gladly schedule an appointment to help you get better, but remember the old saying….an ounce of prevention!
